amidst the ongoing discussion around Dhurandhar 2Actor-director Deepak Tijori has questioned the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC)’s approach to muting abusive language in theatrical releases. He criticized what he described as “half-silent” abuses in the film, saying that this practice left him confused about the intention behind such censorship.

Sharing on Instagram, Tijori explained that while some abuses are partially muted in theatres, the film is later released on OTT platforms without such edits. This raises concerns about sustainability, he said, especially when the film, which is already rated for adults, becomes readily available at home in its unaltered form.

What did Deepak Tijori say on censorship?

In his post, Tijori questioned why some abusive words are only partially muted while others are completely silenced. He also highlighted the paradox of censoring content for adult-certified theatrical audiences, only to stream the uncut version later.

He said this approach creates confusion over what censorship is meant to protect, especially when the same content becomes widely available on digital platforms without any restrictions.

What changes did CBFC suggest?

According to certification details, Central Board of Film Certification recommended 21 amendments Dhurandhar 2In which at least four major changes focus on scenes of extreme violence. These included trimming sequences involving graphic acts such as decapitation and decapitation.

Other amendments include correction of subtitle references related to demonetization and replacement of “Lahore” with “Delhi” in informational text. After these edits, the film received an ‘A’ certificate in India with a final running time of 3 hours, 49 minutes and 36 seconds.

Why is Dhurandhar 2 in discussion?

The success of the sequel follows stalwart (2025), which emerged as one of the highest-grossing films of the year. Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan and Sanjay Dutt will be seen reprising their roles in the new installment.

As the film continues to attract audiences, Tijori’s comments have drawn attention to broader questions about censorship practices and the differences between theatrical and digital releases.
