Will the court grant bail to Darshan Thugudeepa in Renuka Swamy case? Jailed actor’s wife arranges for his release

After spending 100 days in judicial custody, jailed Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa applied for bail. However, the court had postponed the hearing of the bail plea till September 27, 2024. In the latest turn of events, a report by OneIndia suggested that Thoogudeepa may be granted bail today. The Chandan actor’s wife Vijayalakshmi has already arranged for a smooth departure from the court for her husband.

If reports are to be believed, Darshan Thoogudeepa’s wife has booked a helicopter to facilitate his speedy departure after the murder accused actor is released from Bellary jail. Darshan’s departure by air was planned to avoid heavy traffic congestion.

On a related note, the Income Tax Department questioned Darshan Thoogudeepa in Bellary jail in connection with the money seized during the investigation of Renuka Swamy’s murder. “IT officials met Darshan in jail on Thursday, where they interrogated him about the origin of ₹85 lakh seized during the investigation,” a senior official was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

The Income Tax Department’s inquiry came about because Darshan is accused of hiding the murder of Renuka Swamy and paying Rs 30 lakh to surrender on her behalf. According to an India Today report, earlier investigation revealed that Thoogudeepa had borrowed Rs 40 lakh from one of her friends to pay other accused to destroy evidence related to the murder. Apart from this, the Kannada actor had also confessed this in a statement given to the police.

Let us tell you, Darshan Thoogudeepa was arrested in June in connection with the brutal murder of her alleged fan, Renuka Swamy. According to reports, the victim made derogatory remarks against Darshan’s alleged girlfriend Pavitra Gowda, which provoked the actor to take revenge from Renuka Swamy. Apart from the two, 15 other people were also arrested in connection with the case.
