Late Pakistani model and actor Humaira Asghar was placed on Friday to rest in Lahore. His body was discovered earlier this week in an apartment in Karachi. His funeral was held in Model Town and only a small gathering was seen. Humaira was separated from her family, which initially hesitated to claim her remains.
The police investigation did not indicate any suspicious circumstances around Humaira’s death. According to a report, his body was discovered after his landlord filed a complaint on unpaid fare. Arab newsInvestigators said in the publication, “Humaira’s body is likely to be nine months old. She probably died between paying her final utility bills and when her power was cut in October 2024,” the investigators told the publication.
Symptoms of neglect appeared in the apartment, “The jar rusted, and the food ended six months ago,” he said.
Police Deputy Inspector General Syed Asad Raza confirmed from the news portal, “The final call was made in October 2024 as per the call detail record (CDR).” This confirms the timeline of his death as suggested by the post mortem examination. Neighbors were unaware of his death due to the next door and an open balcony door. ,
Humaira’s brother, Naveed Asghar traveled to Karachi to claim his body. He said, “We have come here and after meeting all the legal requirements, the dead body is obtained.” The family had taken himself away from Humaira for years.
Naveed shared, “That is why my father said that if there is an emergency, you can bury him there (in Karachi).” Humaiira rarely visited the family in the last seven years, making the emotional conditions of his death more complicated.
The autopsy report was released to the police, but the coroner could not determine the exact cause of the death of the actor due to the level of decomposition. Police said on Saturday, “We are waiting for the chemical examination and histopathological report. However, it seems that no dishonesty was involved in the case.”
In the months before his death, Humaiira was absent from social media and phone communication, which delayed his death.
