What to watch this weekend: From Vijay Varma’s IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack to Munjya starring Sharvari and Abhay Varma

Filmmakers are back to give the audience some great entertainment, be it on the big screen or on OTT platforms. Given the many options, cinema lovers will surely have a lot of choices to choose from. The audience will definitely get to witness many episodes of laughter and also enjoy the twists and turns that will keep them glued to their seats.

2. IC 814: Kandahar hijacking

Vijay Verma is all set to play the role of Captain Devi Sharan in Anubhav Sinha’s film IC-814: The Kandahar Hijack. The mini-series is based on true events and is also based on the Captain’s book Flight Into Fear: The Captain’s Story. It shows how the Indian Airlines plane was hijacked on December 24, 1999 while flying from Kathmandu to Delhi. It was diverted to Kandahar, which was under the control of the Taliban.

Sharing his experience of working on the film, Verma said that he was excited to see the result as he was only looking at a green screen during the shooting.

3. Murshid

The story revolves around a retired gangster, Murshid Pathan, who is forced to return to the streets of crime after receiving threats from his friend-turned-enemy. On the other hand, there is a cop who is investigating a case. As the story progresses, it shows how the former gangster and the police officer are connected through the case.

4. Troubles ensued

Directed by Santosh Kumar, Pad Gaye Pange features Shastri Ji, a retired math teacher who leads a peaceful life in his house surrounded by his ex-wife. However, his peace is disturbed when his elder son’s wife, fed up with Shastri Ji’s antics, threatens to leave the house with her husband. Their lives take an unexpected turn when Shastri Ji and his former student and a young bank manager, Ayush, learn that they both have cancer.

5. The Story of a Marriage

Produced by Vinay Reddy, it will hit theaters on August 30, 2024.

6. West Bengal Diary

The upcoming political drama directed by Sanoj Mishra and produced by Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi is set against the backdrop of the 1971 Bangladesh genocide. Diary of West Bengal revolves around a widow who travels from Bangladesh to Bengal along with others like her, and loses many companions on her way. When Suhasini manages to reach Kolkata, she becomes a victim of love jihad and faces several religious discriminations. Seeing the dire situation and government involvement, she takes the lead to force the Indian government and human rights organizations to intervene and take action.
