Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has dubbed Dakota Johnson one of his “best friends”, despite rumors of their split. The couple started dating in 2017 and kept their relationship out of the limelight most of the time, but the love between them cannot be denied.
The 47-year-old singer reportedly included Johnson, 35, among his confidants, along with his bandmates Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion and manager Phil Harvey. He further talked about his two children, daughter Apple and son Moses, ages 20 and 18, who he shares with ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow.
Asked to reveal his special list of best friends, Martin told Rolling Stone, “Phil (Harvey), Dakota, Johnny (Buckland), Will (Champion), and Guy (Berryman), my kids.”
Although Martin didn’t reveal anything deep about his relationship with the Fifty Shades of Gray actress, he did reveal that they were recently listening to Kacey Musgraves’ album Golden Hour together. Talking about love, Martin said that it is very important in life but admitted that it might be better to keep some of it private.
The Sparks singer said, “It’s important to say that (romantic love) is such a big factor in everything, even though it feels right to keep it precious and private; I’m not denying its power.”
Although he mostly prefers to stay out of the spotlight, Martin has spoken openly about his relationship with Johnson on rare occasions. For example, during a performance of BTS and Coldplay’s collab My Universe in 2021, Martin dedicated the song to her on stage, saying, “It’s about my universe, and she’s here.”
While breakup rumors had previously surfaced, Johnson’s rep dismissed them as false, confirming that the couple are still together and happy. A source close to the pair tells People, “Sure, there have been problems between them and they’ve taken breaks in the past, but things are great now. They both love their careers. They’re making things the best they can.” are balanced in a manner.”
Despite experiencing some difficult moments and short-term separation in the past, they are doing well now. Rumor has it that Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson have actually been engaged for quite some time, but they are not planning to formalize their union in the near future.
