Actress Neha Dhupia, who recently called out the paparazzi for repeatedly filming her inappropriately, has now spoken about her overall relationship with the photographers. Days after the confrontation at a public event in Mumbai sparked a debate over celebrity privacy and paparazzi boundaries, the actor praised the paps for being respectful and supportive of his work.

on his international debut
In the same interview, Neha Dhupia also talked openly about her international debut. 52 blue. The actor plays a mother named Lakshi in the film, directed by Egyptian filmmaker Ali El Arabi and starring Adil Hussein. Reflecting on the role, she said that playing a mother on screen was more challenging than many people imagined, adding that her real-life experience as a mother helped her prepare for the role.
Explaining how motherhood shaped her performance, Dhupia said that the role demanded her to connect the emotions she had experienced in her personal life.
She said, “Being a mother helped me prepare for this role because as a character I had to deal with a lot of maternal pain. Be it loss, abandonment, longing, all this, unfulfilled dreams, and then I think if this film had been offered to me seven years ago when I was not a mother, I don’t think I would have been able to give it so many layers.”
The actor said that motherhood has completely changed the way she understands grief, making her character’s journey extremely personal.
“Whereas once you become a mother, it completely changes. That’s because then the loss and the pain, you know, hits your core to such an extent that you almost become numb. So there’s a part of me that had to be portrayed,” she concluded.
52 blue London Indian Film Festival started on 10 July. In the film, Neha Dhupia plays the mother of a young footballer from Kerala, while Adil Hussain plays the boy’s strict and protective father. The film is currently traveling the international festival circuit, with its India release date yet to be announced.
