Yo Yo Honey Singh calls AP Dhillon, Karan Aujla and Guru Randhawa ‘superstars’; says ‘Diljit Dosanjh won’t be counted amongst them for this reason’

Yo Yo Honey Singh has been ruling the music scene in India, especially the rap scene, for the past several decades. He was one of the few artists who introduced hip-hop and rapping to the country. Since then, many singers and artists have risen to fame. In a recent interview, Honey spoke about his peers and shared his opinion about today’s independent music scene.

Talking to Mid-Day, Yo Yo Honey Singh said that the music industry is currently creating streaming stars, but not superstars. He said that in the last decade, only singers like AP Dhillon, Karan Aujla and Guru Randhawa have become superstars. He named Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh and said that he would not count him among them.

Backing up his statement with a reason, the Brown Rang singer said that Amar Singh the Chamkila star was “already (way ahead) in the game; he was already a legend.” Singh further added that he has known Diljit Dosanjh for many years, and they have even worked together. According to him, while the above-mentioned three artists have become superstars, “50 boys and girls, unfortunately, have only become streaming stars”. According to him, this is the biggest problem today.

Recently, the 41-year-old Singh was also interviewed by The Lallantop, where he gave his unpopular opinion about some of his chartbuster songs. Speaking to the media house, Singh said that the peppy number Blue Hai Pani Pani from the film Yaariyan 2 is the stupidest song he has ever heard in his life. “It’s rubbish. Honestly, look at all the songs, do they have any substance?” Singh said in Hindi. He further added that the track was completed in just 2 hours with music and recording.

Talking about his other trending numbers, Lungi Dance and Party All Night, he said that he had no idea what he was doing at that time and people were praising him unnecessarily. “Now when I am asked to do these songs, I laugh at myself because people are still crazy about such songs,” Honey Singh said.

The singer recently collaborated with Neha Kakkar and Guru Randhawa to sing the song ‘Holi Holi’ in the film Khel Khel.
