Xiaomi 17 Ultra launched: Price, full specifications and other details
Xiaomi has launched the 17 Ultra in China with a flat design, larger battery, and an advanced Leica-backed camera system, making it the brand’s most polished Ultra phone yet.

Xiaomi has taken the wraps off the Xiaomi 17 Ultra in China, officially expanding its 2025 flagship lineup with what the company is calling its most sophisticated Ultra phone yet. Launched on Thursday, the device is a successor to the Xiaomi 15 Ultra and brings noticeable changes not only on the inside, but also in the way Xiaomi’s Ultra phone looks and feels in the hand. From a flatter design language to a larger battery and an ambitious camera system, the 17 Ultra appears to be an attempt by Xiaomi to improve the Ultra formula rather than completely revamp it.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra: full details
design
The first thing that stands out about the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is its design. It is the first ultra-branded phone from Xiaomi to use a completely flat 2D display with a flat vertical frame. The phone measures 162.9 mm in height and 77.6 mm in width, while the thickness is kept at 8.29 mm, making it Xiaomi’s thinnest ultra phone to date. Despite the big battery and advanced camera setup, the device remains relatively sleek. Xiaomi is also offering the phone in four premium finishes, including the familiar black and white options, as well as a new Starry Green variant that comes with a mineral grain texture, and a cool Smoke Purple color for users who want something more distinctive.
Display
On the front, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra features a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED flat display sourced from a TCL CSOT. The panel offers 1.5K resolution and 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, with brightness levels up to 1060 nits in high brightness mode. Xiaomi has also added its Shield Glass 3, also known as Dragon Crystal Glass 3, for better durability. The flat screen option may appeal to users who prefer less accidental touches and a cleaner viewing experience, especially on a phone this size.
Chipset, software and more
Performance is another area where Xiaomi completely lags behind. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, built on a 3nm manufacturing process. It is paired with LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, which aims to deliver top-tier performance for gaming, multitasking, and heavy workloads. Graphics duties are handled by the Adreno 840 GPU, while the phone runs Android 16 out of the box with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 layer on top. Xiaomi is also highlighting a high-performance antenna system with five signal enhancement chips, support for 51 4G and 5G frequency bands, and UWB ultra-wideband technology for more accurate connectivity.
camera
Imaging remains the main focus of the Ultra series, and the Xiaomi 17 Ultra lives up to that reputation heavily. The phone comes with Xiaomi’s most powerful camera system ever, developed in collaboration with Leica. At the center is a 50-megapixel 1-inch Light Master main camera that uses the OmniVision Light Hunter 1050L sensor with optical image stabilization and LOFIC ultra-high dynamic range technology. This setup is designed to improve light intake at the hardware level, while preserving highlights and shadows in both photos and videos, especially in challenging night scenes.
Along with the main sensor, the phone has a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera built around the next-generation HEPE image sensor with a larger 1/1.4-inch size. Xiaomi says that this lens uses 3G+5P optical architecture with floating lens design, which enables continuous optical zoom. In practical terms, the camera system supports seamless zoom from 75mm to 400mm, which could make it one of the more versatile telephoto systems on a smartphone right now. There’s also a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera to complete the setup. On the front, Xiaomi has included a 50-megapixel OmniVision sensor for selfies and video calls.
A new addition to the camera experience is “Fireworks Mode”, which utilizes LOFIC ultra-high dynamic range technology along with AI-based scene recognition. According to Xiaomi, this feature adjusts the exposure frame by frame to better handle complex lighting situations like fireworks or high-contrast night scenes without blowing out the highlights.
battery, charging
Battery life has also received a significant boost. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra packs a 6800mAh battery, which is larger than previous Ultra models. With support for 90W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging, charging speeds remain competitive. Despite the large battery, Xiaomi has managed to keep the weight of the phone at 224 grams, which is reasonable for a device in this category.
IP rating, connectivity and more
Apart from the usual flagship features like IP68 water and dust resistance, dual stereo speakers, an The Xiaomi 17 Ultra features deep integration with Apple’s ecosystem, allowing users to mirror and control their Xiaomi phone’s screen directly from the iPhone. Xiaomi says users can perform tasks like ordering food or using QR codes for public transportation through this setup. The phone also supports screen mirroring and control between iPhone, iPad and Mac, as well as two-way mirroring between two Xiaomi phones.
