What is it like working with Dimple Kapadia? Pankaj Kapoor tells
In an exclusive interview with India Today, Pankaj Kapur shares his thoughts on reuniting with Dimple Kapadia when it comes to the open book. The actor also talked about working with professional actors.

Veteran actors Pankaj Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia are all set to share screen space once again after their collaboration finding fanny. This time the pair will be seen together in ZEE5 series when the book opened. Their reunion has sparked excitement among the audience who remember their previous pairing fondly, however Kapoor looks at this collaboration from a different perspective. In an exclusive conversation with India Today, he talked about working with Kapadia again and sharing the screen with the new generation of actors.

Sharing his thoughts on the same, Kapoor said, “I had a great time working with him finding fanny. In that film the director had decided that I would play my character and he would play his. This time, it was Saurabh Shukla who chose me in this role and him in that role. After all, it is the director who decides which actors he wants in the film he is making.”
For Kapoor, what really matters is the professional environment on the set and the seriousness with which the actors approach their work. “Having said that, yes, it’s always nice to work with an actor who is professional, has a serious and honest approach towards his work. This way, there is professionalism on the sets and personally, I love it.”
While audiences often get attached to on-screen couples and expect to see them together again and again, much like the iconic appeal of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, Kapoor said he doesn’t look at collaborations from that perspective. “I don’t look at it that way. I look at it from the perspective of the character that has been given to me. My focus is on playing that role and living that character to the fullest, while hoping that my co-actor is equally committed to the work that we are doing.”
The conversation also focused on how the show is viewed today, especially when compared to what many consider a different era of cinema. “I think they are wonderful actors, and they are doing some great work. Even the young ones, some of them are giving their best and coming up with something brilliant. The question is what kind of films are being made. Maybe there was a different kind of cinema, and the tonality was different. Today, the tonality of cinema has changed. So, the position an actor has in a film is not just acting. There are two thousand other things involved in it.”
Kapoor was clear that he does not dismiss the younger generation of actors. “I don’t underestimate any actor. I think some of them are very good actors. And in the coming years, or in the coming subjects, if they get the opportunity to work, they will be able to show the audience that they have real potential as actors who are able to give a performance that can be remembered for years to come.”
When he was asked to name some actors, the veteran actor avoided naming anyone as he felt it would be inappropriate.
