Julia Garval’s upcoming film, The Fantastic Four is set to return to the screen with the first steps. Ahead of the big release, the actress has reacted to the backlash obtained to portray Shal-Bal in Pedro Pascal Starr.

Initially, when Garners joined the actors of the MCU film, fans believed that she would play the female version of the Silver Surfer.

However, when it was discovered that the injustice would portray the role of the immortal Maharani of the Star Zen-La and the lover of the Silver Surfer/Norin Redd, the actress was trolled online by fans.

Julia Garner called fans out to play shawl

In a conversation with the BBC, Julia Garner claimed that she was going to do her work despite negativity. The actress explained, “I am still going to do my work, and this is also a shawl, so it is different.”

However, fans soon echoed with the character, as the film’s trailer was dropped, and immediately died towards trolling.

Further in the talks, the film star shared, “I was just happy that people are echoing with it, like any other project. So I am grateful to be in this dance, to be completely honest with you.”

For Shal-Bal, the character was first introduced in Marvel Comics in 1968. However, his live-action role had never appeared on screen before.

Speaking about her character of Entertainment Weekly, the actress shared, “I knew who was the silver surfer, and I came to know more to the Silver Surfer on signing the project. I really dives into it.”

He added, “I read a lot of magnificent four and silver surfer comics before starting the project, and I knew that it was being told in a very different way compared to other films.”

For Fantastic Four, Garner and Pascal have joined Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quin and Ibon Moss-Bachrach.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be in theaters on 25 July.
