Weekly Survey: Will you buy the Oppo Find N6?

The Oppo Find N6 claims to have solved one of the biggest issues with foldables – it made the crease basically invisible. Okay, this isn’t the biggest issue facing foldables, but it’s definitely a deal breaker for many people. And it’s not like the Find N5 had major problems in other categories. That said, the N6 brings several significant upgrades to the camera and battery.

Instead of making the phone smaller, Oppo opted to increase the battery size to 6,000mAh (up from 5,600mAh). This means that the N6 has the same thickness (4.2 mm open, 8.9 mm closed) and weight (225 grams vs. 229 grams) as the N5. Then again, those figures weren’t an issue on the older model. We appreciate that Oppo has upgraded the hinge to IP5X dust resistance (water resistance is the same at IPX8 plus IPX9).

The other big change is more capable camera hardware – a 200MP main sensor (up from 1/1.56”, up from the 50MP 1/1.56”) and a 50MP ultra-wide (up from 8MP), with the external and internal selfie cameras now having 20MP sensors (up from 8MP). The telephoto camera is also new, but on paper the 50MP 3x/70mm module looks very similar to the older phone’s 50MP 3x/75mm module.

This is something we’ll investigate in our review – we’ve already opened the box and had our first look at the Find N6, now we’re starting our usual tests. In the meantime, we wanted to know what you think about the new foldable.

Oppo Find N6 will compete with Honor Magic V6. Both use the same chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Oppo may have a better main camera (200MP vs 50MP, both 1/1.56″ sensors), while Honor may offer better telephoto shots (larger 64MP with 1/2.0″ sensor and wider f/2.5 lens vs 50MP with 1/2.75″ sensor and f/2.7 lens for Oppo). Honor also has a larger battery – for the global model. 6,660mAh and 6,850mAh/7,150mAh for the Chinese model vs 6,000mAh for Oppo.

Speaking of, the Find N6 became available in multiple regions this Friday – the base 12/256GB model starts at CNY 10,000 ($1,450/₹135,000). However, Oppo confirmed that the N6 will not be available in Europe, so it is mostly targeting Asian markets.
