VMAs 2024: BLACKPINK’s Lisa wins Best K-pop Act award for the second time

Blackpink’s Lisa had a memorable night at the MTV Video Music Awards, where she performed her solo performance and won the Best K-Pop award for her single, Rockstar. She is the first solo artist to win this award twice.

Blackpink’s Lisa performed brilliantly at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). Apart from her first solo performance, Lisa also won the Best K-Pop award for her latest single, Rockstar. The VMAs were held at New York’s UBS Arena.

While receiving the award in a black dress, Lisa said, “Rockstar was a meaningful comeback for me after ‘LALISA’. This is very, very special.” She also thanked her new agency Elloud and RCA Records for their role in helping her win the award.

She became the first solo artist in VMA history to win the Best K-pop award twice, making her the first solo artist to achieve this feat. In 2022, Lisa made history by becoming the first solo artist to win Best K-pop with her solo track LALISA.

In addition to Lisa, 13-act group Seventeen won the Best Group award at the VMAs. Although the group did not attend the awards, they wrote on X, “We are incredibly grateful to win Best Group at the 2024 #VMAs. Thank you so much CARATs for all of your amazing love and support.”

Le Seraphim also won the Push Performance of the Year award for EG. He wrote on the x, “Thank you FEARNOT for your great love and support.”

The remaining nominees for Best K-Pop included Jungkook ft. Layto’s Seven, NCT Dream’s Smoothie, Newseen’s Super Shy, Stray Kids’ Lalalala and Tomorrow X Together’s Déjà Vu.
