Vishnuvardhan, Ambareesh, Puneeth in the 18-minute song of Upendra’s Rakta Kashmira?
Upendra-starrer Rakta Kashmira, which was reportedly shot almost 14 years ago, is finally hitting theaters in Karnataka this week.
After years of delay, veteran filmmaker SV Rajendra Singh Babu’s Kannada film Rakta KashmiraStarring Upendra and Ramya, it is set to release in theaters across Karnataka this week. The film, shot nearly 14 years ago, has been gaining attention online even before its release, with discussion taking place over whether its themes and story would appeal to today’s audiences.
One of the highlights of the film is an 18-minute special song that brings together 15 Kannada film personalities including Dr. Vishnuvardhan, Ambareesh, Puneeth Rajkumar, Shivarajkumar and Darshan.

Rajendra Singh Babu is a three-time National Award winner and has also directed several State Award winning films in his career. Produced by MDM Productions, the film stars Upendra and Ramya in the lead roles, with Mars Suresh managing its statewide release.
Speaking at a recent press conference, Rajendra Singh Babu said that the long delay has not weakened his faith in the film. He stated that Rakta Kashmira was conceived to be a theatrical experience, with large-scale visuals, real locations and emotion-driven storytelling, and was never intended for a television or digital-first release.
The director said that the story takes inspiration from terrorism-related incidents in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and attacks in Indian cities including Bengaluru. Describing the film as a patriotic family drama, he said that the team shot for over a month in Kashmir to ensure authenticity.

Along with directing the film, Rajendra Singh Babu has written the story and screenplay, while MS Ramesh has written the dialogues. The music of the film has been composed by Gurukiran. The cast also includes Mukesh Rishi, Doddanna, Om Prakash Rao, Anil and Kuri Pratap.
Meanwhile, Upendra was last seen 45A 2025 Indian Kannada-language fantasy action film that marks the directorial debut of composer Arjun Gyan. The film stars Shivrajkumar, Upendra and Raj B. A number of actors were involved, including Shetty, and it was noted for its high-concept premise and scale.
