Actor Vijay Verma recently shared details about his role as Captain Devi Sharan in the show ‘IC814’, which dramatises the horrific events of the Kandahar hijacking of 1999. Captain Sharan, the pilot of the hijacked Indian Airlines flight IC814, appreciated and praised Vijay Verma’s role.
Verma revealed the reaction he got from Captain Sharan and his wife after watching the show. “Captain Devi Sharan enjoyed the show. She patted me on the back. Mrs Sharan also said that I know the person better than her and you have become very close to him,” the actor said.
The Kandahar plane hijacking is one of the most important events in Indian aviation history, and Varma’s portrayal is noted for its authenticity and emotional depth, providing viewers with a nuanced perspective on the crisis.
