After seeing actress Vidya Balan, she remembered her late co-star Irrfan last tenant For the first time since its shooting 25 years ago. The film, which also stars Irrfan, is now streaming on YouTube and was released in memory of the late actor, who died in 2020.

On Thursday, Vidya shared the clip of the film on Instagram and wrote about her emotional reaction on finally watching it. She said that it was a project she never wanted to forget, as it was a difficult period in her early career when many films did not take off.

Vidya wrote, “See last tenant Last night for the first time since I shot it 25 years ago. I shot for it and then, for some reason, it didn’t see the light of day.”

He then recalled the period when the film was made and said, “It happened at a time when everything I touched was not becoming successful. My first Malayalam film, Chakramwas discontinued, after which I was replaced in about a dozen films over a period of three years. To make a long story short, like everything else that didn’t work out at the time, I wanted to forget about it so I did.”

Vidya said that director Sarthak Dasgupta recently informed her about the release of the film, which brought back memories of working with Irrfan. The actor further added, “I remember calling my sister excitedly from the set to tell her that I was shooting with Irrfan Khan in ‘Banegi Apni Baat’. I thought he was the most natural actor at that time and I felt the same last night too, never a wrong comment or tone.”

He also wrote about his regret that he did not get a chance to work with Irrfan again. Vidya said, “Since Irrfan’s demise, I regret that some of the films in which we could have worked with each other did not succeed. But now at least I have The Last Tenant.”

Actress Divya Dutta commented, “Oh, watching you two amazing actors weave magic tonight.” One fan wrote, “Irrfan Khan was not only an amazing actor but also a good human being. Sadly! He left this world too early.”

Written and directed by Sarthak Dasgupta and produced by Neena and Sarthak Dasgupta, the film features a young Irrfan opposite Vidya.
