Kalki 2898 AD, Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Deepika Padukone starred in lead roles, premiered in 2024 and opened for large scale success. As the film ended at a clifhenger and announced a sequel, it seems that fans will have to wait a bit to see it.

Is Kalki 2898 AD in 2 works?

According to a 123 Telugu report, Nag Ashwin was recently seen on a podcast, where he shared an update about Kalki 2898 AD. Since scale and actors are largely, the film may take longer to get physical.

The director said, “The actors have to come together. Some pre-scented indexing sequences and action sequences are very large. So it will take some time. I have an accurate answer. Everyone is busy. Hopefully, in another 2 or 3 years, this is what I think.”

Recently, Nag Ashwin was seen in Nani-starrer Yevade Subramanyam’s re-too. At the venue, he was asked why Prabhas had a limited presence in the first installment.

In response, Ashwin reported that the first part was more about establishing the origin of story and world-building. He later confirmed that the sequel would focus more on the film Karna and Ashwatthama, and assured fans that Prabhas would have a more major screen time.

About Kalki 2898 AD

The story of Kalki 2898 AD begins at the end of the Kurukshetra war of Mahabharata, which marks the onset of Kali Yuga in 3102 BC. After the events of Mahabharata, Ashwatthama is assigned by Lord Krishna to protect his last incarnation when the time is correct.

6000 years later, in 2898 AD, the world has become terrible for most people, who live in fear of God known as Supreme Yaskin. While most people try to make him happy and get a humble residence in their resourceful land called Complex, others revolt against him and his atrocities.

As all the rays begin to fade for the people, a new light appears that Sum-80 aka Sumathi emerges as an unborn child in the womb of Sumathi. Set with Yaskin and his followers to extract a life source from the child, an epic story comes out, which sets the rest of the film.

In addition to co-leaders, Kamal Haasan played a brief role as the chief opponent, which showed Dular Salman, Vijay Devarakonda, SS Rajamouli and more and more cameo.
