Swiss industrialist Pankaj Oswal filed an appeal at the United Nations against the alleged illegal detention of his 26-year-old daughter in Uganda.

Vasundhara Oswal was captured by around 20 armed men from Oswal’s Extra-Neutral Alcohol (ENA) plant in Uganda without producing any identification or warrant. While he was reportedly detained on October 1 in a missing persons case, an urgent appeal was filed with the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (WGAD) earlier this week.

A post on Vasundhara’s Instagram handle detailed her “unlawful detention and arrest”, showing a toilet with blood and feces on the floor. The post claimed she was forced to sit in a room filled with shoes for more than 90 hours and was not allowed to shower or change clothes for nearly five days. The woman was deprived of basic needs like clean water and proper food, given a small bench to sleep on and asked to participate in a suspicious parade.

eu reporter He said Vasundhara was deprived of vegetarian food and was also denied access to her family and lawyers.

Another post on her Instagram handle quoted her brother as saying that Vasundhara is a “workaholic” who developed a $110 million ENA plant in Luweero, Uganda from “a small tent on a vacant land in 2021” . He said his detention was the result of corporate jealousy of an unnamed 68-year-old man, whom he accused of trying to extort money from Oswal and sink his reputation.

Vasundhara’s brother further claimed that the authorities did not release him despite a court order, and instead took him to a lookout court where he was charged with murder.

WGAD is an expert body of international human rights experts appointed by the Human Rights Council to investigate abuses of police powers, shed light on abuses, and hold governments accountable.

Meanwhile, Vasundhara’s mother Radhika Oswal appealed to the Ugandan government, saying, “My young daughter has been thrown into a foreign prison. She has been stripped of her basic human rights and her dignity. Vasundhara is an innocent bystander. I That’s all I’m saying.” He needs protection.”

monitorOn the other hand, it was claimed that PRO Industries executive director and company lawyer Vasundhara was sent to jail on charges of kidnapping with intent to kill chef Mukesh Kumar Menaria, who has worked for the family for seven years.
