Vijay Sethupathi is joining the big re-release Clash Day! Tamil film Sudhu Kavvum is planning to re-release on upcoming Friday, February 20. It will join Thalapathy Vijay’s Gilli and Ajith Kumar’s Thunivu for a big battle between the three big stars of the South Indian film industry at the box office.
The 2013 release ended up being a turning point in Vijay Sethupathi’s career, garnering him equal praise. It also became an important release in the filmography of Ashok Selvan and Ramesh Thilak. The film did great business at the time of its release. With a box office estimate of Rs 12 crore, a remake in Telugu titled Gaddam Gang was launched in 2015 and a remake in Urdu titled Chupan Chupai was launched in 2018. It also spawned a sequel titled Soodhu Kavvum 2 in 2024, but it did not receive the same popularity in cinema.
Under the banner of Thirukumaran Entertainment with CV Kumar producing, Santhosh Narayanan composed the music for the film, Dinesh B. Krishnan did the cinematography, and Leo John handled the editing.
The re-release of the film directed by Nalan Kumarasamy was confirmed by producers Shakthi Film Factory with an announcement on their social media, with tickets priced at just Rs. 100. The original stars Sanchit Shetty, Karunakaran, Bobby Simha, Ramesh Thilak and Ashok Selvan, with Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role, Yoga Jaapi, Aruldoss, MS Bhaskar and Radha Ravi.

The film, starring Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role, is a Tamil-language black comedy about a slave who ‘kidnaps’ people with his own rules and gets entangled with some people who eventually become his assistants. The four meet some influential personalities and get entangled in a big mess due to their greed to earn a lot of money. He comes face to face with his ‘imaginary’ girlfriend, as his companions realize that she was very real.
