In the video, Faye introduces her Indian mother-in-law carrot pickleA Filipino pickle seasoning with a sweet and sour flavor. This side dish is usually paired with BBQ, grilled or fried dishes. Faye also shared her recipe in the video: She combines one cup of water, half a cup of vinegar, two tablespoons of salt, one tablespoon of sugar, a bay leaf and some black pepper into a pan. Then, she boils the mixture for about three minutes. After removing it from heat, she adds carrot slices and stores the mixture in a container.
In the caption, Faye wrote: “When we first met, my mother-in-law doesn’t speak English, and I don’t speak many Hindi words either, but we try our best to communicate with each other. Now, she Knows English words and is not shy about talking and expressing herself.”
She added, “I appreciate how open she is to trying food from her country and is so curious to know how I cook it. To share these pure moments with her shows that For it is not impossible to have a good relationship with your mother-in-law if you are a foreigner.”
