According to a report by Livemint, Ravichandran Ashwin has announced his retirement from international cricket. This came after India’s draw in the third Test against Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane. This match was part of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
He made the announcement after joining captain Rohit Sharma at a post-match press conference. Ashwin said that this is his last day as an international cricketer. He mentioned making many memories and described his team as the last group of “OGs” in the dressing room. He also expressed his gratitude to BCCI, his team and all the coaches.
Paying tribute to him, BCCI wrote, “A name synonymous with skill, wizardry, talent and innovation. The top spinner and invaluable all-rounder of #TeamIndia has announced his retirement from international cricket. Congratulations on a wonderful career.”
