Black Friday deals are in full swing at Samsung US. While the company is selling everything from smartphones to washing machines, Samsung storage solutions caught our attention.

Starting with the microSD card, the EVO Select is a valuable option with a 1TB card priced at $80. These have been given A2 rating, so you can run apps from them. Their transfer speeds are also up to 160 MB/s (read).

The Samsung Pro Plus microSD card comes with an SD adapter, which is great if your laptop has an SD reader instead of a microSD reader. The Pro Plus series is fast with up to 180MB/s reads and up to 130MB/s writes.

The Samsung Pro Plus also has full-size SD cards, which run at similar speeds (up to 180MB/s read and 130MB/s write). If you are getting a 512GB card, the full size card is cheaper. Otherwise, you’ll be better off with a microSD (remember it comes with an SD adapter).

Another way to store data is with a portable SSD like the Samsung T5 EVO, which is available in 2TB, 4TB, and 8TB variants (though only the latter two are discounted). It connects to USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5Gbps) and can achieve sequential read and write speeds up to 460MB/s. It’s small (102 grams) but tough with drop resistance up to 6 feet.

A faster but expensive option is the Samsung T9 Portable SSD. With a USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 connection (20Gbps), it offers sequential read speeds of up to 2,000MB/s. It’s not much bigger than the T5 (it’s 122g).

If you have a computer with an NVMe slot, you can upgrade the internal storage as well. The Samsung 990 EVO (M.2 2280) has a PCIe 4 x4 or 5.0 x2 interface for sequential read speeds up to 5,000MB/s and sequential write speeds up to 4,200MB/s. It performs up to 800K/700K random IOPS and is rated for 1,200TB total bytes written (TBW).

The Samsung 990 Pro is fast with sequential read speeds up to 7,450MB/s and sequential write speeds up to 6,900MB/s. It has 4GB of LPDDR4 DRAM, which pushes random access up to 1,600K/1,550K IOPS. It is also more durable with a TBW of 2,400TB. The form factor is the same, M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD.
