The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Wide will slot in between the Z Flip and Z Fold – it will be a horizontal foldable, but it will be smaller and will open up to reveal a wider aspect ratio screen compared to the square ratio of the Z Fold 8. But in terms of hardware, will this device be closer to Flip or Fold?
Well, as far as cameras are concerned, the answer is “flip close”. According to a report published by GalaxyClub And sammobileThe Wide will have a 50MP f/1.8 main camera instead of a 200MP sensor like the regular Z Fold.
There’s a bit of good news – the ultra-wide camera is also set to have a 50MP sensor (with an f/1.9 lens). This will match the Z Fold8 ultra-wide camera and is better than the rumored Galaxy Z Flip8 camera setup that combines a 50MP main with only a 12MP ultra-wide.
Leaked information on the Galaxy Z Fold8 reveals a new dedicated telephoto camera – a 12MP 3x unit to replace the old 10MP 3x module – and a new 50MP ultra-wide (up from 12MP). We’ve known for some time that the Galaxy Z Fold Wide will only have two cameras on the back (you can see it on the dummy unit and in these renders, for example), but a 200MP sensor on the main one was always expected.

With a 200MP main, the phone offers good 2x and good 4x zoom capabilities even without a dedicated telephoto lens. Instead, the zoom quality will be on par with the Galaxy Z Flip8.
The Z Fold Wide will have two other cameras – two 10MP selfie cameras (one on each screen), with the same small punch holes as the regular Z Fold8.
Finally, today’s two posts confirm a report from mid-March that both the Galaxy Z Fold Wide and the Galaxy Z Fold8 will have larger batteries than the Z Fold7 at 4,800mAh and 5,000mAh, respectively. This compares to 4,400mAh for the Z Fold7 and 4,300mAh for the Z Flip7. By the way, the new Z Flip8 is not getting a battery upgrade.
Although the date is not official yet, Galaxy Unpacked for the new Z foldable is expected to take place on July 22.
