Samsung will host the Galaxy Unpacked event on Wednesday, January 22 at 11.30pm IST. At the event, the company is expected to launch three smartphones: Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra. Samsung also unveiled the highly anticipated Galaxy S25 Slim, but that may only be available sometime in May this year. Apart from the phone, the South Korean giant may also talk about the next-generation Galaxy Ring. However, Galaxy AI will be at the heart of any device the company launches at the event.

Galaxy AI is Samsung’s own AI tools and software embedded in all of its devices, including smartphones and tablets. It offers many features on the device, like Bixby, Samsung Voice Assistant, contextual suggestions, image recognition, etc. These features are meant to make the experience on the device more intuitive and smarter. With the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy AI debuted for the first time and features and tools were available for free on smartphones.

However, according to recently leaked marketing material, which was first shared by Eveleaks, Galaxy AI will only be available for free to Galaxy S25 users later this year. From 2026, users may have to start paying for features.

With the Galaxy S24, Samsung promised to make Galaxy AI features available for free for two years. On that basis the report seems valid.
This also means that by 2026, all Samsung users – whether they are using Galaxy S24 smartphones, the Galaxy Z-series foldable or the upcoming Galaxy S25 series – will no longer get free access to Galaxy AI.

At the moment, it’s unclear how Samsung will charge for these features. There’s no clarity on whether Galaxy AI will be available on a subscription basis or whether it’ll be a suite you make a one-time purchase for. However, we will know about it soon, as Galaxy Unpacked is just a few hours away.

As far as subscriptions are concerned, it is also rumored that Samsung may launch its own subscription plan to rent the new Galaxy S25 series. However, it is being said that this subscription plan is currently made available only for South Korean customers.
