Making the announcement on Zoya Akhtar’s Tiger Baby Productions’ Instagram handle, it was written, “Celebrate the magic of Salim-Javed after 50 years. Sholay will be screened once again in cinemas this Saturday 31st August!”

To keep an eye:

While talking about Salim-Javed in the promotional video of Prime Video’s documentary ‘Angry Young Men’, Salman Khan was asked by host Farah Khan which Salim-Javed film he would like to remake. Without any hesitation, Salman immediately replied, “Sholay.”

He said, “If I have to remake any of his films, I would like to remake Sholay. I can play both Jai and Veeru, I can even play Gabbar.”

Javed Akhtar, who was also present for the roundtable, recalled how many in the cast wanted to play the role of Gabbar Singh, which was originally played by late actor Amjad Khan. “Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjeev Kumar said they wanted to play Gabbar. However, Dharmendra never said he wanted the role, as he was happy with his role,” Akhtar said.

‘Angry Young Men’ is a new documentary series that traces the illustrious careers of screenwriters Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, the iconic duo popularly known as Salim-Javed.

Co-produced by Salman Khan, Zoya Akhtar, Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani and Reema Kagti, ‘Angry Young Men’ is currently streaming on Prime Video.
