Saba Azad on delay in release of Hrithik Roshan’s Toofan, Anurag Kashyap’s Bandar
Actress Saba Azad opens up about the release of Anurag Kashyap’s film Bandar, in which she stars alongside Bobby Deol and Sanya Malhotra, and how is Who’s Your Gynec? Conversations broke out on taboo topics.

In an exclusive conversation with India Today, the actor described Bandar as an important film and shared his experience of working with Bobby Deol and Anurag Kashyap.

“It’s very strange because you sit for a year and nothing is happening, and then suddenly everything is released at the same time. It’s strange. But Monkey Releasing in two weeks, and I’m really looking forward to it. Anurag Kashyap is amazing, Bobby Deol is amazing. And Sanya Malhotra is absolutely fantastic in the film. It’s a pretty scary movie, but also really good. We got to take it to TIFF last year. This is also a very important film. Saba said, it is based on a true story and we are really excited to show it to everyone.
As readers may know, monkey’s The release in India faced a major hurdle before it was finally allowed to hit theatres. The film revolving around the Me-Too movement stars Sapna Pabbi, Indrajit Sukumaran, Raj B. Shetty and Jitendra Joshi and it will release on June 5.
When Saba was asked if the delay in the release of a project also affects an actor, she replied, “Of course it does because you know whatever work you do is like your show-reel, right? Because you are showing people what you can do, so other people can also imagine you in a certain way or another. And it’s a lot of hard work too. It’s like ‘Jungle Mein Mor Nacha Kisne Dekha’ (Jungle (I used to dance peacocks, but did anyone see it?) So, if the world doesn’t see the work you’ve done, it’s as good as it hasn’t been done.”
Apart from this film of Kashyap, Saba Azad is also working on another interesting project. Storm. The web show is directed by her boyfriend Hrithik Roshan’s home banner HRX Films, marking his OTT production debut.
“I just wrapped Storm A few days ago, and I’m totally shocked because we’re shooting at night. So, I’m in another time zone right now (laughs). It’s time for me to sleep. But Storm It was unbelievable. Ajitpal Singh is a genius and if he comes to you with a script only an idiot would refuse him. She is amazing and I also got the chance to work, share the screen with many talented women. Parvathy Thiruvothu, oh my god, I love her. Storm It was really an incredible experience, and I’m so glad I got to work on it,” Saba said. The series also stars Alaya F, Srishti Srivastava, Ashish Vidyarthi and Ramma Sharma in lead roles.
Finally Saba Azad told about her show Who is your gynecology? It has helped people open up about topics that are usually considered taboo. The actor recalled being overwhelmed by the response after the first season failed, stating that within a week, his inbox and comments section were flooded with messages from young women.
According to her, many people thanked the team for addressing topics that are rarely talked about openly, especially women’s bodies and discomfort. Saba concluded, “They told me how they watched the show with their parents, boyfriends, and husbands, which facilitated conversation through humor. That reaction was reassuring, because it made me realize that we had created something meaningful and impactful.”
