Ravi Kishan speaks on casting couch: Had to face many such attacks in his youth
Actor Ravi Kishan opens up about facing the casting couch in his youth and urges aspiring actors to avoid taking shortcuts to achieve success.
Actor Ravi Kishan, who was last seen in Kiran Rao’s Missing Ladies and has over 400 Bhojpuri films to his credit, recalls being a victim of casting couch in the early days of his career. “When you’re young, some people try to take advantage of you,” the 55-year-old actor revealed.
On Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, Kishan was asked whether men also have to face this problem like women. Recalling his experience, the actor further said, “I have faced many such attacks in my youth. I was thin, I had long hair, I wore earrings.” However, Kishan advised aspiring actors to avoid shortcuts to success, saying, “I would like to tell everyone that there are no shortcuts to success. I know many people who have tried taking such shortcuts And he is extremely remorseful for it.” “They have fallen into addictions, or taken their own lives.”
The actor, who started his career with Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgan, stressed the importance of patience and hard work. “I have never seen anyone become a star through shortcuts. Wait for your time to come, be patient. I would tell myself that one day the sun will rise for me. All my friends in the 90s—Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgan—they were superstars.
