Ranvir Shorey reveals the ‘weirdest pitch’ he received for a role
Actor Ranvir Shorey recently spoke to IndiaToday.in in an exclusive chat about doing comedy parts, participating in ‘Bigg Boss OTT 3’ and more.

Fresh from his Bigg Boss OTT 3 experience, actor Ranvir Shorey is all set for his new web series Shekhar’s Home. With KK Menon playing a detective in the lead role, Shorey will play his assistant, and the two will solve crime cases together. In a conversation with IndiaToday.in, the second runner-up of Bigg Boss OTT 3 spoke about his love for comedy genres even though people consider him a ‘serious actor’. He also recalled the craziest pitch he has ever received for a role.
“Though I have done serious and dramatic roles, I don’t hesitate to accept offers for comedy roles. I am keen to play comic roles. Thankfully, I am not boxed in and maybe it is because I don’t take myself too seriously as a serious actor,” Shorey said.
Ranveer said that his love for comedy landed him in a very funny situation when he was signed for Do Knot Disturb (2009). Recalling David Dhawan’s pitch and what followed, the actor said, “After the success of Bheja Fry and my other comedy films, the great David Dhawan approached me. He told me that I am an amazing actor and I should do his film. He was going to bring Govinda back in this film and I said yes to it because of the way he pitched it to me. However, eventually, I realised that I was playing a dead body for 90 per cent of the film.”
Ranvir Shorey also spoke about his life after the Anil Kapoor-hosted reality show. He revealed how he was ‘happy’ to go on regular shoots and promotions, “If I had known it was going to release now, I probably wouldn’t have joined Bigg Boss. As I said on the show, I was on the reality show because nothing was happening there, the projects I had shot for were all waiting to release,” he revealed.
We then reminded him how he had spoken about not having enough work in the first episode. His statement sparked outrage on social media, with viewers wondering why an actor like him did not have work. Defending his statement, the actor said, “One statement paints a pathetic picture. Being a part of this industry for so long, there have been phases when there wasn’t enough work. It wasn’t the worst phase, but probably quite bad. Most actors go through it. Because the only offers I was getting were for reality shows, I decided to do the show.”
Starring Rasika Dugal and Kirti Kulhari, Shekhar Home will premiere on JioCinema on August 14.
