Ranbir Kapoor wasn’t satisfied even after giving 37 takes for a scene in Tu Jhooti Main Makkar, director Luv Ranjan reveals: ‘Don’t just say ok because…’

Tu Jhooti Main Makkar was the debut film of Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. With Luv Ranjan’s entertainer, both the actors took the box office by storm and the rom-com became one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of 2023. But all this did not go smoothly for Kapoor and the director. During a recent chat, Ranjan recalled that the Animal star did 37 takes for a particular scene.

Filmmaker Luv Ranjan told Sony Max that he was working with Ajay Devgan and Ranbir Kapoor for the first time on a film which did not get made. He said, “It was a film that we were supposed to do together but the combination did not go well.” However, their interactions in the film led them to join hands in Tu Jhoothi ​​Main Makkar. After discussing several times, both of them mutually agreed to work on a romantic-comedy film as they felt it was a good idea.

Sharing his experience of working with Animal Star, the Pyaar Ka Punchnama director revealed that a lot of interesting things happened while they were making the film. Sharing an anecdote, he said, “It was the third day of shooting and we took 37 takes of Ranbir.” However, he also said that Kapoor was someone who was not satisfied even after giving so many retakes. So, he came to Luv and told him, ‘If you are not 100 percent happy, let me know, I will give another one. Don’t say it’s okay just because I did 37 takes.

In the same conversation, the filmmaker revealed why he chose Shraddha Kapoor as the female lead Tinni. Expressing his views, he said that he wanted to choose someone for this character whose image was very simple and homely. “He did it very easily,” Love said. He also said that he played this role with ease. Apart from her, the film also starred Dimple Kapadia, Hasleen Kaur and others. It was also the acting debut of Boney Kapoor and Anubhav Singh Bassi. Kartik Aryan and Nushrat Bharucha also played cameo roles in the film.
