Priyanka Chopra looked back on her journey to portray Jhilmil in ‘Barfi’, a role director Anurag Basu could not initially imagine her. He shared how intensive workshops, deep research, and exiting their comfort field helped them bring character to life.

‘Barfi!’ The completion of 13 years after her release, Priyanka Chopra shared a hearty post on Instagram about her journey to become Jhilmil Chatterjee. It was a role that director Anurag Basu could not initially give her a picture, but one eventually earned through intensive workshops, intensive research and exit from her comfort field. He drowned himself in research with Basu – reading, watching videos, meeting children on autism spectrum, and practicing in the director’s Aram Municipal Office. “One day, he asked me to hurt Hindi Hindi Explosives on him. Shot in two years with a break, ‘Barfi!’ Winning seven awards at the 58th Filmfare Awards became an important and commercial success, including the best film and best actor for Ranbir Kapoor. It was also India’s official entry for the best foreign language film at the 85th Academy Awards.
Priyanka is currently shooting for Mahesh Babu in Hyderabad for ‘SSMB 29’ of SS Rajamouli, in which her daughter Malti Mary was with her.
