Prateik Babbar is one of the popular Bollywood actors who made his acting debut in 2008 with the film Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na starring Imran Khan and Genelia Deshmukh. His role as Aditi’s brother Amit made a special place in the hearts of fans. The actor is celebrating his 38th birthday today on 28th November. On this special occasion, let us remember the time when he admitted that he did his favorite film only for money.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama last year, Prateik Babbar had talked about his initial mindset on the sets of his debut film, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. He recalled arriving on the set without any preparation and said that his only motivation was money.

“I didn’t know what I was doing in the film! I was not prepared at all. I was not worried about getting into a character, who is my co-star, who is a big actor, who is a small actor etc. I was concerned with money. I got Rs. I was going to get Rs 50,000 as acting fee and I was going to spend that money with my friends (Who is a big or small actor. I was going to get Rs 50,000 and I was interested in it which I had to spend with my friends). That was my only motivation to do the film (laughs)!”, he had admitted.

He further expressed his gratitude towards film director Abbas Tyrewala for his patience and talent that he was able to extract a performance from. He remembered that the director did not direct him much, made him comfortable and let him do his work. The Sikandar actor candidly shared that he would tell the director that he had not read the lines, and he would reply, ‘Okay. Abhi paankiye padh le (Okay, read the lines now)’.

Interestingly, Prateik’s lineage as the son of Raj Babbar and Smita Patel did not contribute to his casting for the film. The birthday boy revealed that co-producer Aamir Khan found out about his parents during a party just three weeks before the film’s release and “made a big deal about it.”

Impressed by his acting, Aamir Khan’s ex-wife, Kiran Rao, who saw him during the premiere, asked him to audition for Dhobi Ghat, which became his second film.
