Prakash Padukone tells how Baby Dua changed Deepika and Ranveer’s life
Former badminton player Prakash Padukone talks about the parenting journey of actors Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. She also revealed what granddaughter Dua liked most during her trip to Bengaluru.
Former badminton player Prakash Padukone has introduced his daughter Deepika Padukone and son-in-law Ranveer Singh as parents and described them as loving each other. He also talked about his relationship with his daughter Dua and said that becoming a grandfather brought about changes in him that he did not expect.
Prakash said that Dua’s visit to Bengaluru is based on simple, everyday experiences. He said he and his wife Ujjala take them on metro rides, auto-rickshaw trips and evening walks to local parks. He also talked about his liking for pedals and trains. His comments come after Deepika and Ranveer recently announced that they are going to become parents again.

talking to Indian ExpressPrakash said, “Of course, Deepika does a lot, but whenever Ranveer is not working, he helps her a lot. Both the families are also there to help.” The former badminton player said that he used to wonder why grandparents were so worried about their grandchildren, but now after welcoming Dua, he completely understands those feelings.
Talking about Dua, Prakash said, “She is very fond of paddle. There is a good paddle ground very close to our house. We live near the camp station, so she likes to watch the trains. She is a very sociable child, so she likes to mingle with people. She says hello to almost everyone. She has been traveling from a very young age. This has really helped. She is growing up very fast and in a very interesting phase at the moment Is.”
Couple ready to welcome second child
Earlier this year, Deepika and Ranveer shared a joint Instagram post and told fans that they are ready to become parents once again. Deepika posted a picture of Dua taking a pregnancy test which shows two distinct pink lines, which is a universal symbol for a positive result. Both Ranveer and Deepika’s hands can be seen gently holding their daughter. Deepika simply captioned the post with an evil eye emoji.
The couple married in Italy in 2018 in a ceremony honoring Konkani and Sindhi traditions. They welcomed their first child, Dua, in September 2024 and kept her out of the public eye for months. It was during Diwali 2025 that he introduced her to fans, revealed her name and shared glimpses of family moments.
What’s next on the work front?
Deepika has King with Shahrukh Khan and Raka With Allu Arjun. Raka is directed by Atlee and produced by Sun Pictures, and is expected to hit the screens in 2027.
