Pawan Kalyan talks about the delay in release of Thalapathy Vijay’s Jan Nayakan: ‘Rule is a rule, you can’t blame…’

Pawan Kalyan has spoken about the controversy surrounding the delay in censor certification for Vijay starrer Jana Nayakan. The film has reportedly been awaiting clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification for several months, which has led to speculation and criticism from some sections of the film’s team. Earlier, the makers had suggested that the delay could be linked to the government. However, Pawan Kalyan rejected those claims during a recent interview with Thanthi TV, saying that it would be unfair to attribute the issue to other interventions.

Addressing the matter, the Ustad Bhagat Singh star said that the delay appears to be due to procedural complications rather than any impact. He stressed that the decisions taken by the CBFC act independently and should not be linked to others. "The Jan Nayakan issue was not handled well at the censor board level, and that is not right," According to a report in India Today, Pawan said. His comments come amid the ongoing debate over the reasons for the stalled certification process for the Vijay starrer.

To illustrate his point, Pawan Kalyan cited his upcoming film Ozzy as an example of how the certification process works. He revealed that his film’s team members had suggested that his affiliation could help him get a more lenient certificate from the board. The actor said he strongly rejected that idea, stating that the film contained significant violence and therefore deserved the rating given by the authorities. "My producers and my director said, ‘You are their part, and your film has been censored.’ I asked him how he expected a U/A certificate despite all the violence depicted. I told him that a rule is a rule and it cannot be made for those who are a part of it. CBFC still issued an A certificate. Even if I used my connections to influence CBFC, they would clearly tell me that they are separate entities and cannot be linked," Pawan said.

Pawan Kalyan also questioned the decision of Jan Nayakan team to give prominence to this issue. According to him, the situation then becomes more complex and beyond the direct control of the filmmakers. He suggested that such steps often prolong the process rather than resolving it quickly, adding another layer of complexity to an already delayed certification case.
