Parineeti Chopra: How many actresses today are willing to gain 16 kilos? | Exclusive
Parineeti Chopra is back from her vacation and ready to get back to work. Here, she talks about her next move, choosing the right kind of films and doing things the ‘unconventional’ way.
Actress Parineeti Chopra is continuously receiving praise for her performance in the Netflix film ‘Chamkila’. In an interview In a conversation with IndiaToday.in, she talked about gaining weight for her role. Parineeti said that not many actresses are ready to gain so much weight for a role in a film.
The actress revealed that she was on a break for 15 days after the release of the Imtiaz Ali-directed film. Parineeti said that she enjoyed her time with her husband Raghav Chadha and is now back to work. When asked how she wants to take this success forward, she said, “I plan to only do films that feel really right. I have done films for the wrong reasons. Sometimes, I have done films that I may not have believed in. It feels like I have to do homework when the audience expects a really great performance from me. It motivates me to do roles that require homework. Homework that maybe no one else can do.”
The actress said that she risked everything and gave her all in ‘Chamkila’ without any apprehensions. Parineeti said, “I had to gain 16 kilos for this film. How many actresses today are willing to do that? I know only a few actresses, only a few actresses who have done that – really dedicated, committed actresses.” She spoke about her unconventional journey with the film.
Parineeti mentioned her co-star in the film, Diljit Dosanjh, and said that both of them have worked hard to break many stereotypes through the film.
He said, “For just two years I didn’t do any other work. Singing live on the set – who takes the risk of singing live on the set and letting that sound be used in the film? No one is confident enough to do that. They want to do it in the studio. So, I think in this film Diljit and I have done many things, under the leadership of Imtiaz sir, which are not usually done. It inspires me to take more risks because we believe in the audience, and they accept us when we do such things.”
Parineeti married Raghav in September last year. The beautiful pictures from their wedding were all over social media and reflected the love and bonding. Talking about how she likes to make every moment count and live a fulfilling life, she said, “I live my life in a very holistic and complete way. I give equal importance to every single thing in my life. My career is not everything. My food is not everything. My travel is not everything. My comfort is not everything. Apart from my family, nothing else affects my life.”
It is important for the 35-year-old actress to give equal importance to her personal and professional life. Parineeti said that she gives herself completely when she is with her family and is the hardest working person when she is on the set. “I live my life in a very, very, very, very balanced way. So, I am affected by my successes and failures in the same way as I am affected by everything else. Because I am a very balanced person, I am happiest if a film does well. If a film doesn’t do well, I am still very happy. What I want to say is that I react to things in a very balanced way,” she explained.
When Parineeti Chopra was asked if she has finalised her next project, she revealed that she is reading a lot of scripts and will soon announce a film that is very close to her heart.
