Oscars 2027: Comedian Conan O’Brien returns as host for the third time
Conan O’Brien will host the 99th Oscars on March 14, 2027, extending his presentation to three consecutive ceremonies. The Academy and Disney Television Group said his return keeps the core team united for another global broadcast.

Comedian Conan O’Brien is set to return as host of the Academy Awards in 2027, which will be his third consecutive stint at the ceremony. The 99th edition of the Oscars will take place on Sunday, March 14, 2027, at the Dolby Theater at Ovation Hollywood.
O’Brien will reunite with executive producers Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan, who returns for the fourth consecutive year. Creators Jeff Ross and Mike Sweeney will also return for a third time, with Sweeney remaining on the show as a writer.

Announcing the decision, Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Lynette Howell Taylor praised the returning team.
“We are thrilled to be working with Conan, Raj, Katie, Jeff and Mike again for the 99th Oscars,” they said in a joint statement. He added that the team has delivered “captivating, entertaining and heart-touching shows” in recent years.
Disney Television Group president Craig Ervich also praised O’Brien’s hosting style. “His unique comedic voice makes Hollywood’s biggest night one of the most entertaining events of the year. We are proud to welcome him back,” he said.
Kapoor and Mullan highlighted O’Brien’s collaborative approach, calling him a “true creative partner” who brings both humor and warmth to the show.
A long lasting comedy career
O’Brien is widely known for his late-night television work. late night with Conan O’Brien, The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien and Conan. Before moving into hosting, he was a writer for Saturday Night Live and The Simpsons.
He currently hosts the podcast Conan O’Brien needs a friend and stars of the travel series Conan O’Brien must visit. Over the years, he has won six Primetime Emmy Awards and earned 33 nominations, including recognition for his work at the Oscars.

The 99th Oscars will be broadcast live on ABC, streamed on Hulu and broadcast in more than 200 territories worldwide. With O’Brien and the core creative team returning, the Academy has settled on a familiar line-up for one of Hollywood’s biggest nights.
