Bollywood is having a big Diwali with two major releases including Ajay Devgan’s Singham Again and Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. Recently, Bhushan Kumar, co-producer of the Kartik starrer, revealed that both the parties met and tried their best to avoid confrontation. But, this could not happen due to pre-commitment to OTT platforms and creative reasons.
She also shared that Vidya Balan didn’t do Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 because she wasn’t sure how her role would be in the film, but later she liked it.
In a candid interview with Bollywood Hungama, Bhushan Kumar discussed the clash of his Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 with Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again. He revealed that everyone knew that both films were part of a bigger film franchise with a lot of value. So, both the parties tried to avoid confrontation but everyone had their own reasons for releasing it on Diwali.
Sharing the reason behind this, he mentioned that they had a pre-commitment deal with the OTT platforms and they were not allowed to change it. Meanwhile, the makers of Singham Again had a similar issue and creative requirement as their film had a Ramayana theme and the festival was an apt occasion for its release.
He said, “We met and discussed how we can avoid conflict, we also tried, we also tried, but it was not possible because of this compulsion.” (We met and discussed how to avoid conflict, they tried and tried but it was not possible due to these issues.)
Kumar was also asked if he was angry with Vidya Balan for not being a part of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 earlier. But, he denied this claim and mentioned that the actress had a reason for it.
He recalled that Vidya had said that she had received a lot of love and appreciation for her role in Bhool Bhulaiyaa during the initial phase of her career in Bollywood.
Therefore, she was not sure how her role would be in the second part and did not want to hamper the appreciation she had received in the first if it was not good. However, when Kartik Aryan and Kiara Advani starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 became a hit, she went to watch the film and loved it.
Furthermore, he also expressed his appreciation for the film by calling Bhushan. So, he mentioned that they had asked him at that time to be a part of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and they were finally able to get him on board. The film also stars Madhuri Dixit, Trupti Dimri, Rajpal Yadav and others and is directed by Anees Bazmee.
