oppo reno16 pro review

Introduction and Specifications

It’s time for the bi-annual Oppo Reno refresh, and this June, we’re getting the Reno16 and Reno16 Pro as well as the Reno16F and Reno16FS. However, the subject of this review is the Pro model, which sits at the top of the lineup and offers a minor refresh over its predecessor. So don’t expect generational upgrades.

Anyway, the Reno16 Pro seems way more sophisticated, mainly feature-wise. For example, the new Reno16 Pro has an additional hardware button called AI Snap Key, which can be remapped to your liking. It also includes some new AI features and new camera functionalities that were not present in the Reno15 series.

The smartphone also gets a new chipset, while the display refresh rate gets bumped up to 144Hz and the battery grows by a few hundred milliamps. Again, if you’re based in Europe, the Reno16 Pro’s battery capacity is actually less than the Reno15 Pro’s – down from 6,200 mAh to 6,000 mAh.

But what about the regular Reno16? What does a pro have that a non-pro doesn’t? Again, it’s got a higher refresh rate at 144Hz instead of 120Hz, it’s got a better main 200MP camera, it’s a more powerful SoC, and it’s got a bigger battery (in some markets).

Still, the iPhone-level build quality and feel, as well as the minor tweaks to the specifications, make the Reno16 Pro seem like a nice refresh for the second half of 2026. What usually holds the Reno series back at launch is the hefty starting price. Let’s see if it’s appropriate this time.

Unboxing the Oppo Reno16 Pro

We received the global version of the Oppo Reno16 Pro, so the retail package included not only the user manual and USB-A to USB-C cable, but also the appropriate 80W SuperVOOC charger. For example, the European box doesn’t come with a charger, so you’ll have to buy one separately.

The device comes with a transparent silicone case so you can’t hide the stunning design.
