Padai Thalaivan hit a big screen on 13 June 2025. The film is based on a true story and celebrates a unique relationship between a man and an elephant against Odisha’s rural background. In fact, the film had a very special AI-Janit cameo by the captain of the late actor in the film. The film is now ready for an OTT release soon.

Padai Thalaivan will start streaming on Tentcotta from 18 July. However, it will not be available by the audience in India to be seen and will only be accessible to people outside the country.

The story of Padai Thalaivan describes the life of Velu, which is a Mahauta famous for its extreme love and affection for his elephant. One day, a corrupt priest and his people stop a plan and steal Velu’s elephant, which makes him disappointed.
Things begin to reverse in Velu’s life, as they already have a lot of debt in his name and used to rent their pet elephants for various events to earn some money and clean their names.
As Velu has started searching for the name Manian for his elephant, he leads to Odisha, where he finds out that a ritual is being prepared for sacrifice by a tribal creed later. He decides to change himself from being an innocent and naive villager for a brave hero and creates the best way to save Manian.
In this process, he also takes himself to save other oppressed villagers who are subject to the tyrannical rules of powerful.

The film includes Shanmagha Pandian, Kasturi Raja, Yamini Chander, Muniskanth, Karudan Ram, Rishi Rithvik, Ek Venkatesh, Yugi Sethu and other lead roles.
Vijayakanth, the captain of the late actor, is depicted in a special cameo appearance in the film, which is possible with the help of AI.
Padai Thalaivan is written by Parthiban Desing, while it is directed by U Ambu. Ilaiyaraja has composed the music score of the film.
