Amidst the ongoing debate on Shah Rukh Khan, the best actor and recent Best Film is being made at the National Film Awards to win ‘The Kerala Story’, filmmaker Shujit Sirkar has emphasized that the final decision is with a fully appointed jury. He said that his decision should not be questioned.

We can agree to disagree on many things, but after all, what it matters, who is there. Jury is going to be your last wordAnd you leave it to their sensitivity. You cannot question what the award he has given. I think we will question that they start before they start. Who is a jury? What are their condolences? ,

‘Piku’ and ‘Sardar Udham’ Director Currently, selecting the best short films in this program, it is serving in the Jury of Melbourne’s Indian Film Festival (IFFM) for the second consecutive year. Although he usually avoids such roles, Sirkar said he created an exception to IFFM.

“IFFM is very dear to me. The organizer is a dear friend and this special festival is almost like a family relationship. This is my fifth or sixth journey. I usually don’t participate in injuries and being a judge. But as a judge. But for this, I created an exception,” he shared.

Calling the process of identifying cinema “very difficult”, he underlined his approach, “We tell all that we all tell that they should keep in mind. Recalling a moment from his own career, when ‘Sardar Udham’ did not choose Panorama for the 2021 international film festival, Sirkar said, “When Sardar Udam’s panorama was not selected, I was asked the same things. I would say what I said: ‘Whatever jury has decided, I have to accept this”.

The 2025 Indian Film Festival of Melbourne runs from 14 August to 24 August.
