Nawazuddin Siddiqui says he is not here to fill the void left by Irrfan
Nawazuddin Siddiqui said that he does not see himself as filling the void left by late actor Irrfan. He emphasized that his journey in cinema is about personal growth and self-discovery.

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has addressed comparisons with late actor Irrfan, saying that he does not see himself as the one to fill the void left by the great actor. Speaking at an event recently, Nawazuddin stressed that his journey in cinema has been about self-discovery and personal growth rather than stepping into someone else’s legacy.
The actor talks about his career and creative process NDTV Creators Forum Season 2 Held over the weekend. During the conversation, he was asked about the perception that he has taken over the role of Irrfan Khan in Bollywood after his demise.

Responding to the suggestion, Nawazuddin clarified that his focus has always been on his journey as an actor.
He said, “I have come to fill myself. I don’t want to fill the void of any actor. I have many weaknesses. I want to fill the void within me. This is my personal journey. I have not come here for anyone. I want to do what I want to do.”
The actor said that his primary aim is to explore himself through the characters he plays on screen. According to Nawazuddin, artistes should focus on understanding their strengths and limitations instead of constantly comparing themselves with others.
He said, “I know I have many weaknesses and I want to deal with them through characters. That’s my focus. God has given you a lot, you should focus on that. You don’t need to look at other actors. You have a lot inside you, you just have to find it.”
Collaboration of Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Irfan
Nawazuddin and Irrfan have shared screen space in many acclaimed projects over the years. One of their most notable collaborations was lunchboxWhich is directed by Ritesh Batra and also stars Nimrat Kaur. The 2013 film received international acclaim and also won the Critics’ Week Viewers’ Choice Award at the Cannes Film Festival. Earning a nomination at the BAFTA Awards in 2014.
Both the actors also worked together in films like Paan Singh Tomar And bypass. In an earlier interview, Nawazuddin had described Irrfan as a guru-like personality in the initial phase of his career.
Irrfan died in 2020 at the age of 53 After battling neuroendocrine cancer.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s upcoming projects
On the work front, Nawazuddin was last seen in the Netflix crime thriller Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders. The actor currently has several projects in the pipeline, including the courtroom drama Section 108 and heist thriller The Great Escape Farrar. He has also joined the cast of the highly anticipated sequel tumbad 2.
