Ben and Casey Affleck’s mother, Chris, dies at 83 after battling pancreatic cancer
Chris Anne Affleck, mother of actors Ben and Casey Affleck, died of pancreatic cancer on June 2. His last wish to see his grandson Atticus graduate was fulfilled two days early.
Chris Anne Affleck, mother of actors Ben Affleck and Casey Affleck, has died at the age of 83. He died on June 2 after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December.
A condolence message shared by hollywood reporter Said Chris was given six months to live following his diagnosis. It also said that his last wish was to see his grandson Atticus graduate from high school.

His wish was fulfilled two days before his death. Chris Anne Affleck lives on in the public memory as the mother of Ben and Casey Affleck, and her death following her pancreatic cancer diagnosis late last year.
Chris was born Christopher Anne Boldt in December 1942 in New York City. A graduate of Harvard, he spent 35 years as a public school teacher before retiring in 2008.
Influenced by her stepfather Sam, she was also a committed civil rights activist throughout her life, and according to her obituary, taught literacy classes in Mississippi as part of the Freedom Summer campaign in 1964.
Chris has two sons with her ex-husband, Timothy Affleck – Ben, now 53, and Casey, 50. The couple separated when Ben was about 12 years old. Deeply invested in his sons’ artistic paths from the beginning, Chris also gave Ben his first real break in acting by connecting him with casting director Patty Collins, his former college roommate from their Harvard days.

Ben, in an interview with Vanity Fair 2023 said, “We were sitting next to my mom and we won, and we kind of hugged my mom. I remember how everyone made it such a big deal like it was a new thing.”
He added, “There was no one else who was going to go. That was it. Of course, our mothers were going to go. It was really innocent and not fake.”
