We finally got our hands on the Motorola Razr 70 Ultra (also called the Razr Ultra 2026 in North America), and it looks pretty familiar.
Here it is next to its predecessor – physically, apart from different back panels on these specific two models, there are no major differences. You have mostly the same displays inside – a 7.0-inch 165Hz, 4.0-inch cover screen; Same SoC – now older Snapdragon 8 Elite; Even the camera system is unchanged.
The new Razer Ultra’s screen has a few more nits at the top end, and the battery has grown to 5,000mAh (up from 4,700mAh).

Here’s the Razer 70 Ultra next to the regular Razer 70. There are other variations between the two – the 70 has smaller screens – 6.9-inches on the inside, 3.6-inches on the outside; It also has MediaTek Dimensity 7450X SoC. The Ultra has a non-straight edge in imaging – good wide and selfie cameras, less so, on paper, than the ultrawide. Finally, on the battery front the Ultra has 200mAh more.
But a more obvious difference is how they differ in hand. The Ultra feels more premium and more polished. In a sense, it’s better to put together.

The grippier finish on the Razer 70 is nice, but the wood trim finish on the Ultra is something else entirely. In the world of shiny glass backs (and their derivatives), you notice when you touch something that feels like wood (even if it’s real wood, its feel in the hand doesn’t change).
The 7.0-inch display is generous, although it will seem narrow if you’re coming from a non-folding slab phone. This has the inherent advantage of being able to fit two identical apps in split-screen mode.
The Motorola Razr 70 Ultra is priced at €1,360 in Europe and comes in a single 16/512GB configuration. The phone comes without a charger in the box, but you do get a cable and a soft-touch case.
The case has a built-in handle. Of course, many people would justifiably prefer to use a phone made of wood without a case, and so would this editor.
