Introduction
The next foldable Razr generation is here, bringing small but significant improvements to the Razr 40 series. Today, we are going to learn about the most premium Razr 50 smartphone – the Razr 50 Ultra. It will go down in history as the first truly water-resistant Razr and the first Razr to feature a telephoto camera.
Visually, the new Razer 50 Ultra isn’t much different from the Razer 40 Ultra – a compact foldable with an aluminum frame, glass and leather exterior, and stainless steel hinge. This year’s Ultra is IPX8-rated for reasonable water resistance.
The external screen has gotten bigger – it’s now a 4-inch square LTPO OLED with smaller bezels and three punch-holes for the two cameras and the flash. It has a resolution of 1272 x 1080 px (421ppi) and supports a 165Hz refresh rate, 1B colours, HDR10+ and even Dolby Vision.
The foldable 6.9-inch LTPO OLED is also of similar quality – it supports a dynamic 165Hz refresh rate, 1B colors, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Its resolution is 2640 x 1080 or 413ppi.
The Razer 50 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, an update to the 8+ Gen 1, and features faster UFS 4.0 storage.
There’s still a dual camera setup at the back, but it has completely different imagers. There’s now a 50MP OIS primary, along with a 50MP 2x OIS telephoto camera with up to 4x lossless zoom. However, the 32MP selfie camera is the same as the Razr 40 Ultra’s selfie camera.
Finally, the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra comes with a 4,000mAh battery that supports 45W fast charging and 15W wireless charging. It boots vanilla Android 14 with some proprietary Moto tricks including rich use of the external screen.

It seems that Motorola has improved the things we didn’t like in the Razr 40 Ultra and that’s a great development! We now have proper water protection, a better cover screen, better cameras, faster charging. The only drawback is that the ultrawide camera had to be removed and some people are definitely going to miss it.
Motorola Razr 50 Ultra Unboxing
The Motorola Razr 50 Ultra comes packaged in a black paper box that is packed with a lot of goodies. Upon opening the box, you will get a cool scent of wood and other notes. This is Motorola’s signature scent, and it makes the unboxing experience even more special.
The box contains a 68W power adapter and a USB-C cable for fast charging. Also, there is a protective case with a small leather lanyard in a matching color. You have to stick the case to the phone with double-sided tape, which is unfortunate, otherwise it won’t stick firmly to your phone.
The case is nice and so is the lanyard. With both of these, you can carry the phone as a crossbody bag.
