Meta announced in April that nearly two years after the Meta Ray-Ban Glass is launched, they would soon be officially available in India as well. The launch date has not yet appeared. Meta is already storing voice recording when customers interact with Meta AI using Ray-Ban glasses. Earlier, you may disable the meta that stores these recording. Now, with a change in policy, the company has completely removed the option to do so. Users will now have to go to the only option settings and remove voice recording manually. Settings for “camera use” for meta AI are also now capable by default.

“Camera use with meta AI is always capable of your glasses until you close ‘hee meta’, ray-ban customers are allegedly read of meta emails.” Recording of your voice is stored in a default form while using Meta AI and it can be used to improve AI in meta and other meta products. The option to disable voice recording storage is no longer available, but you can remove the recording at any time in the settings “, email.

Additionally, Meta says that the pictures and videos clicked using Ray-Ban Glass will be stored locally on a device and will not be accessed by Meta “until those photos are used by meta product”. “If a photo or video is used with a meta AI, or if the cloud processing is on and the media is sent to the meta server, it can be used to improve the services of the meta”, reads email.

Which means, if the ray-ban users upload images and videos on the Instagram or any other meta app, Meta will be able to reach them to improve its “meta services and products”.

However, Meta wants her users still believe that they are under control. According to the email, the meta says that users can ever disable “hey meta”, which means, if you want to protect your data, you have to stop using the meta AI interaction completely.

Meta was launched in global markets in September 2023. In April 2025, Meta announced that it would officially bring the meta re-ban glasses to the Indian market. The launch date has not been revealed yet.

Rebon stories called Meta’s original Ray-Ban Glass were launched in 2021 and the current generation was launched in 2023. Current ray-ban smart glass is basically aimed at hand-free interaction with meta AI with a simple “hee meta”. This allows users to ask glasses questions, run music, send messages, send phone calls, and highlight: record the video and click on images using the underlying camera in the glasses. Glasses also support live translation, which originally translates a conversation in real time. This feature is currently available only in English, Spanish, French and Italian.
