Nothing is set to bring a new audio product to the Indian market. As per the report, it will feature an open ear design and have Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). This means that with these specifications, it will compete with the new AirPods 4, which is the only earbud in the market that sports an open ear design with ANC. The name of the Nothing earbuds will also reportedly be very apt; they will apparently be called the Nothing Ear Open. The launch will take place tomorrow, September 24.
Nothing has so far launched four earbuds in the Indian market: Nothing Ear 1, Nothing Ear 2, Nothing Ear Stick, and Nothing Ear A. Given the open ear design, the Nothing Ear Open will likely be the successor to the Nothing Ear Stick, which is the company’s only other earbud with an open ear design. The Nothing Ear 1, Ear 2, and Ear A all have an ear tip design.
The expected competitor to the Nothing Ear Open, the AirPods 4, was launched at the recent iPhone hardware event on September 9.
The AirPods 4 come with an open-ear design, which delivers superior audio quality through a low-distortion driver and high dynamic range amplifier. They also feature Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking, which delivers an immersive 3D audio experience for music, movies, and gaming. For gamers, these earbuds offer low-latency audio and support 16-bit, 48kHz sound. A new force sensor on the stem allows for easy media and call control with a simple press.
For the first time, AirPods 4 introduced ANC in the open-ear model. Equipped with advanced microphones and the H2 chip, ANC effectively filters out background noise. It also integrates with adaptive audio, combining noise cancellation and transparency modes to adapt to the surrounding environment. The conversation awareness feature automatically lowers the volume when the user starts speaking, making seamless conversations possible.
With up to 30 hours of battery life when used with the charging case, the AirPods 4 offer flexible charging options including USB-C, Apple Watch charger, and Qi wireless charger. The standard model is priced at Rs 10,900, while the ANC version is available for Rs 14,900.
