Marco actor Uni Mukundan reacted to Tom Chacko’s drug case, says films should not be blamed; ‘What is cinema mirror …’

Marco actor Uni Mukundan recently reacted to the arrest of actor Shine Tom Chacko regarding the use of drugs and criminal activities. In a conversation with Onmanorama, the actor made it clear that cinema alone could not be held responsible for such incidents.

In his words, the actor said, “It is not right to say that the misuse of drugs and crime rates are increasing under the influence of cinema. What is happening in the cinema mirror society; it does not encourage the use of drugs. It cannot affect the society in that way.”

The actor said that it should be investigated as to how such control substances are making their way in Kerala, especially in schools. Referring to the criticisms received by his film Marco – to promote violence and use of matter – he defended the film for his cinematic integrity.

The actor said, “It is unfortunate that, in a country with educated people, awareness still needs to be made against drug abuse. The problem is not a film Marco. It is not just a film? The film indicates things happening in the society; it does not promote misuse of drugs.”

The actor highlighted how cinema is often a soft goal and there is no point in blaming it. Emphasizing that every industry has a problem of drug use and addiction, UNNI said that people in the film industry get more attention to the generation of such issues.

His comment comes when Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko was arrested by the police on allegations of drug use. The actor was booked after a four -hour long inquiry; However, it has been reported that he was released from custody on getting bail.

The arrest followed an incident where the actor allegedly escaped from the police during a regular drug search in his hotel room. It has also been reported that he accepted consuming MDMA and Canbis.
