Louis Tomlinson reacts to BTS breaking One Direction’s music record: ‘Bit of a shame’

One Direction and BTS are two iconic boy groups that have defined pop music for years. With two strong fans at their disposal, they have become unmatched in their meaning. While speaking with Billboard, former oldest member Louis Tomlinson explained how he felt about 1D’s music records being broken by the South Korean septet. Sharing how much it hurts her to have milestones taken away, she also said that it shouldn’t make her ‘angry’ as it’s the natural course of the industry.

Louis Tomlinson is addressing the air around BTS leaving behind One Direction’s many records. A new response from him has revealed that despite not paying much attention to it, he used to read about it occasionally. “There was a time when BTS, they just reached their peak, in a way they’re still there, but when they’re on the way and I feel like every time I logged on to Twitter, they took away one of our likes, like some record for the fastest selling thing, and they’re taking it over, and I just feel like every week, I just (by) snatched away a new thing from BTS."

He shared his thoughts on being a former recipient of these records, “When I was reading it about six, seven years ago, it was like – it was a bit of a shame! It’s like, oh, we had all these things.” However, the 34-year-old is sure that he has no dislike towards his Korean counterparts for this. “But I’m not mad at them for it. Obviously, it’s not something I’m listening to all the time, but I think that’s the nature of the music industry. It goes on."

The father of one is proud of what he achieved with his team during that time. He talked about how a lot of people couldn’t get to where they were in the industry and ‘breaking free from the mold’ set them apart, leading to a significant change in the world of pop music.

Meanwhile, Louis Tomlinson and former bandmate Zayn Malik are said to have put aside their differences and teamed up for a docu-series following the death of fellow member Liam Payne. There have been reports of the film’s shooting being halted midway following a controversy, but more information is awaited from the production.
