Kiddie Capers star Rory Sykes dies at 32 after devastating wildfire takes over his Malibu home

Former child actor Rory Sykes died in the devastating wildfires that swept through Los Angeles last Tuesday. The TV actor’s mother Shelley Sykes confirmed the unfortunate news on social media, revealing that the actor was at their Malibu cottage when the fire broke out.

The Kiddy Capers host further revealed that she couldn’t put out the fire that started in the cinders on the roof. The actress also revealed that the reason for the failure to extinguish the fire was because water had been shut off in the affected areas.

In a statement shared on her social media platforms, Shelley Sykes wrote, “It is with great sadness that I have to announce the death of my beautiful son @Rorysykes in yesterday’s Malibu fire.” She added, “I am completely devastated.”

Further in the statement, the actress shared that Rory was blind since childhood due to cerebral palsy and had difficulty walking. But with the help of surgery and therapy, he was much better.

Sykes called 9-1-1 for help, and after failing to reach them, he asked for the help of the fire department. By the time she returned in search of her son, he was dead.

The fire department told Sykes that Rory died from carbon monoxide gas. The former child actor was 32 when he died.
