Katie O’Brien will soon share screen space with Glen Powell in the upcoming reboot of The Running Man. The film is currently under production and is being directed by Edgar Wright, who has also joined as co-writer with Michael Bacall. The film will be based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name published in 1987, which was set in the America of 2025.
As far as the story is concerned, the story of the film will revolve around a man who is in dire need of money for the treatment of his sick daughter. He takes part in a popular show where the longer the contestant survives, the more money he will earn. However, the twist in the tale comes when the mech will break and the dark secrets of the game show will be exposed.
While Powell will play the lead character of a desperate man, O’Brien will star as one of the contestants on the game show.
Meanwhile, the actress has worked in films like Love Lies Bleeding with Kristen Stewart, Black Lightning and The Mandalorian, apart from signing recent projects.

Meanwhile, in Paramount’s recent announcement, the studio removed the release schedule of upcoming films, including The Running Man. The studio shared that the Powell-led film will be released in theaters in November 2025.
On the other hand, O’Brien has also been cast to star in the new Mission: Impossible film for Paramount Studios. The Running Man will not be the first film in which Katy and Glenn will be seen together. The pair also appeared together in the actor’s latest film Twisters. Daisy Edgar Jones also appeared in the 2024 film.
As for the Anybody But You actor, Powell shared details of the character he will play in The Running Man, while speaking with IndieWire. “I won’t be sitting in class with other students on a regular basis,” the actor said.
Commenting on Wright’s direction, the actor further said, “I will say that as far back as I can remember, Edgar Wright has been one of my favorite filmmakers. I think since Shaun of the Dead, I It was like, ‘I can’t wait to work with this guy.’ And he keeps creating amazing things that only his mind can create.”
