Kate Backinsley confirmed his mother, Judi Lo’s death at the age of 78 after a long battle with cancer. The actress shared an emotional post on Instagram that revealed that her mother died in her arms on the night of 15 July.
“I don’t want to post it,” Bikinsley wrote. “I am only posting this because I have to register my mother’s death certificate and it will soon become a public record.”
In his post, the underworld star included a series of photographs of Judi from various stages of his life, including his early acting career.
“She died on the night of 15 July after being infinitely suffering in my arms,” she wrote. “I have not chosen all the best photos, nor the best video, because I can’t bear to go through my camera roll yet.”
Kate reflects the heart -wrenching loss
Kate Backinsley called his mother “the compass of my life, the love of my life, my dearest friend”, and said that she has been unable to work by losing her. “I’m paralyzed,” he said in the post. “The vastness and giant heart of this little woman has touched so many people who love her very much.”
He also apologized to those friends who may have learned about Judi’s death through the media. “I apologize deeply to any of my friends who are finding out in this way or through the press, but I cannot go through his phone,” he wrote.
What does Judi Lo mean here for Kate and his family
Judi Lo was a respected actress who was known for her work in Edward the Seventh, General Hospital and Monty Python’s The Meen of Life. She revealed her platform four cancer diagnosis, not a long time after the death of her husband Roy Battersby in July 2024.
Bakinsle was in favor of his mother in his last days. Just a week before his death, he shared a video from his hospital room, which loved goodbye by Everly Brothers.
“When my mother was 14 years old, she was in a harmony group with her best friends Mary, Sylvia, (known as Fuji), and Chris,” she wrote. “Mary is unfortunately not with us, but recently … they will meet together and still kill it completely.”
Bakinsley lost her father, actor Richard Bakinsley when she was just five years old. He died of a heart attack at the age of 31. In a 2021 interview with Howard Stern, Kate described the experience as extremely intense. He ended his tribute with a hearty message to his mother, expressed deep sorrows and repeatedly said that he was sorry.
