Actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, who plays Roopa in Laal Singh Chaddha, said Aamir Khan was “broken down” after her 2022 film failed at the box office. Kareena was part of a round table discussion Hollywood Reporter IndiaVicky Kaushal, Shabana Azmi, Rajkummar Rao, Prateik Gandhi, Kanye Kushruti and Anna Ben also attended.

Kareena Kapoor called Laal Singh Chaddha “A beautiful and honest film”“You have legends like Aamir who believed in that film. He was heartbroken. He met me somewhere and said, ‘Our picture didn’t work, will you talk to me?(Our film didn’t work. You will still talk to me, right?’). I said, ‘We are actors, I am most proud that you gave me Rupa (her character)’,” he said.

Emphasizing how proud she is of the character she played in the film, Kareena said, “I think Roopa has done more for me than a Singham (Again).”

Shabana Azmi, who participated in the roundtable, asked Kareena the reason behind her statement. The Chameli actor said, “The character that Advait (Chandan) had written was very beautiful and I loved playing it. There is a lot to think about. We did not make that film thinking that it would make Rs 500 crore. It was just made with all the heart, everyone gave their best.”

Lal Singh Chadha was Released amid much oppositionAlthough the film received critical acclaim, it failed to perform at the box office, earning a lifetime collection of Rs 61.36 crore in India and Rs 133.50 crore worldwide.
